Letters of Experience

No one likes to ask for help. But pride often prevents us from helping ourselves. That is why we have put together a group of experiences or letters from real people that either suffer from depression or have a close friend or family member that suffers. We hope you will read these letters and not feel quite as alone. We hope you will reach out as these women have. Their experiences are real and are still going on all across America. They happened to real, hardworking people that felt the same despair you are feeling right now. We feel they will help you understand that you are not alone and learn how others dealt with their own depression or that of a loved one. Please feel free to send in your own letters to add to the group experience. We have divided the letters into two groups.

The first group will chronicle the struggles of Kristin Brooks who took her life on April 7, 1998. This website is dedicated to her since it was her last wish to help others who suffered as she did. You will be able to read how she felt, her story, husbands point of view and how her friends feel now. This allows you to understand how many people are directly and indirectly affected by one person's depressive illness.

The second group of letters were submitted by various contributors to this site. Their experiences vary, but they all have dealt with severe depression. These include a mothers point of view, a grandmothers point of view and a professional woman who learned to live with depression.
