Postsecret Community Welcome!
1-800-SUICIDE and the Kristin Brooks Hope Center marks its 10th Anniversary this year. To date we have connected almost three million individuals in crisis to help and hope and saved more than 5,000 lives!
To keep 1-800-SUICIDE alive and independent of the federal government we need your support or pledge of support before July 9th.
Your support is needed to ensure that the confidentiality of every caller is protected. With your help, we have overcome tremendous obstacles, however, because we are totally privately funded, we need to prove to the FCC that we are capable of supporting 1-800-SUICIDE to keep control of the line from being turned over to the federal government.
In addition to our existing lines of support we have created the "Hopeline 99 Club". We have 45 53 60 70members so far. We need 29 more.
Some are schools or churches doing memorial walks called Destination Hope.
Some are teams of supporters. Frank Warren founder of Postsecret has pledged to raise on his own $5,000.
In addition several of our 99 CLUB members are in fact from the Post Secret Community. Check out the names below by clicking on them:
Jessica Dell
Kiesha McDonell
Nicolas Magliaro
Kristen McLaughlin
Lastly the Postsecret Community is one of those teams. You can support the Postsecret team by clicking HERE.
If you are feeling ambitious and have the time to build your own team
or create your own event you can become one of the remaining 54 teams
to become one of the 99 CLUB members or groups who will pledge to raise
$400 each month to support 1-800-SUICIDE.

The success of 1-800-SUICIDE is based on individuals in crisis knowing that any personal identifiable information is kept strictly confidential. In closing here are some really cool comments from Postsecret members who have made us smile in the last week. You guys are the best and you rock!
You help thousands of people when they are at their lowest, it is wonderful to see that we could help you at yours. "It is always the darkest just before dawn."
Thank you for all that you do.
Dear Reese,
I am a constant vistor at PostSecret, last week when I saw your need for help I felt more than compelled to help. I am getting my Master's in Counseling Psychology, we are just finishing up a Crisis Intervention section which includes suicide assessment and prevention. I hope every PostSecret Visitor realizes the important and delicate work you do there.
Best Wishes, Mary
Last november i was raped. I was taken out on a date and i was drugged and i was raped. At christmas my son goes to his dads in Cleveland Ohio. I am located in CT. The moment they left i started drinking.......i spent the day drinking.......i then took an entire bottle of pills......i was rushed to the ER yet again....... Really this is a letter to say thank you........i would have tried it again if it hadn't been for calling the hotlines and talking to someone when i recognized these feelings coming on...... thank you so much, i am scared to enter this fall..... but i know i don't have to do it alone, i know there is always a voice........ i wish i had a million dollars i could donate. But all i can do is share my story and my survival............Thank you
kelly
PS: You are more than welcome to share my letter in anyway that you can to help support the foundation. I also would like it noted that i am a well established 31 year old woman. I have a wonderfull son, a caring ex husband, and a good job. I am not some off the edge teen ager, drug addict, alcoholic.....or any of the other stereotypes most people like to think of when it comes to moments like these.
A few weeks ago, I was stuck in a situation where I wanted to commit suicide. I decided to call your hot-line before I did anything. It took me three times to dial the number because I was so nervous. Normally, I've very shy, and I don't like telling strangers about my life and my problems. I never got her name, but the woman I talked to honestly saved my life. I was a wreck when I got on, and afterwards, I felt a lot better. Your hot-line works wonders and saves so many people. I wish I would've gotten the woman's name because I would like to thank her for making me want to live again.
Yours truly,
Christina
I read PostSecret as an RSS feed and am always helped by your comments on the cards. You help me in ways I wish I'd known about when I was younger. (I'm 66)
Bob.
As the founder of 1-800-SUICIDE and a survivor who has been there as someone who wanted to die, end his life from the sheer pain and agony of losing my best friend to suicide the greatest gift I have been given was to learn after so many years of following my heart to learn how many people were really helped ( I always hoped and knew in my heart). That gift came from the Postsecret Community which would not exist if it were not for Frank Warren, his heart, his generosity and his wisdom. So in closing I thank every member of the community that ever sent in their secret, to all those who read them and identified with the secret as it proved they were not the only one who suffered in that way and lastly to Frank for his compassion, friendship and care. We are truly blessed to have him and his families support when all the rest of the world seemed to abandon us. I believe in miracles and Frank was and remains one of them.
